Arthur the King is an adventure-drama film directed by Simon Cellan Jones for Lionsgate. It explores the real-life story of former elite athlete Mikael Lindnord finding his canine soulmate as told in his memoir "Arthur - The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home" which released in 2016. Simon Cellan Jones previously directed on a number of TV shows including Treme, Boardwalk Empire, The Borgias, Jessica Jones and The Expanse. He previously directed star Mark Wahlberg in Apple TV+'s 2023 action-comedy film The Family Plan. 3:10 to Yuma co-writer Michael Brandt penned the screenplay for Arthur the King. Wahlberg also produces the film alongside Tucker Tooley, Mark Canton, Courtney Solomon, Tessa Tooley and Stephen Levinson.
Mark Wahlberg plays Michael Light. He is best known for his roles in The Departed, Ted and its sequel, Daddy's Home and its sequel along with Transformers: Age of Extinction and its sequel. He is joined by Barbie star Simu Liu as Liam, Juliet Rylance as Helena Light, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman, Rob Collins, Michael Landes, Paul Guilfoyle and Bear Grylls portraying himself.
