Inside Out 2 follows a now grown up Riley as she navigates the complexities of being a teenager which introduce her to new feelings of excitement, curiosity, and anxiety. The movie explores how the Happy, Sad, Angry, and Disgusted voices in Riley's head deal with the messy changes that Anxiety introduces in Riley's head, and sees them trying to restore happiness and confidence to their newly disrupted and chaotic mind where fear and disgust rule with the help of anxiety.
Inside 2 is the upcoming sequel to the coming of age 2015 Disney Pixar movie Inside Out. The film marks Kelsey Mann's feature directorial debut, who is taking over for Pete Docter, the director of the original film. Pete is still involved in the sequel as one of the executive producers. The sequel has retained original writer Meg LeFauve to work on the screenplay of the film. Mark Nielsen serves as the lead producer.
Amy Poehler returns to voice the role of Joy, the leader of Riley's inner voice tribe. She is joined by Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger. Tony Hale replaces Bill Hader to voice the role of Fear, and Liza Lapira steps in for Mindy Kaling to voice Disgust as the two actors refuse to reprise their roles after a monetary dispute. Stranger Things actor Maya Hawke joins the cast to voice the new and complex emotion, Anxiety.
