Synopsis
One day he's navigating high school and the next he's fighting mythical creatures
Jin Wang is a normal teenager until a foreign exchange student arrives at his school. He soon finds himself in the middle of an ancient battle of Gods of Chinese mythology. Embroiled in a mythical conflict, Jin also has to manage life at school and at home with his Chinese parents, whom he feels a great generational and cultural disconnect with.

Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan headline American Born Chinese Disney+ series
American Born Chinese is an action comedy series based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name. The show is produced by 20th Television and distributed by Disney. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) serves as the series director and executive producer. Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Volume 1) and Peng Zhang (The Last Samurai) are confirmed as guest directors for the series. Asian-American designers Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim are the costume designers for the show.
Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything, Everywhere All At Once, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) stars as Guanyin. The cast also includes Ben Wang as Jin Wang, Yeo Yann Yann as Christine Wang, Chin Han (Mortal Kombat, Marco Polo) as Simon Wang, Daniel Wu (Into The Badlands) as Sun Wukong and Ke Huy Quan (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Everything Everywhere All At Once) as Freddy Wong.
