Season 1 of "Monster", Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and experienced major success during its release in September 2022. Within a week of its debut, Dahmer swiftly claimed the top spot across various streaming charts and secured the position as the most-watched series on Netflix. Impressively, it also became the third title to surpass 1 billion views on the platform, achieving this remarkable milestone in just 60 days. Lead star Evan Peters additionally earned the Golden Globe award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film in 2023.
The second season of Monster follows the true story of the Menendez Brothers who were convicted of murdering their wealthy parents. The case received immense attention since Court TV broadcasted the trial beginning in 1993.
Ryan Murphy is an Emmy Award winning writer and director best known for co-creating the American Horror Story franchise with creative partner, Brad Falchuk. Ian Brennan co-created the musical dramedy Glee with Murphy and Falchuk along with the black comedy series, Scream Queens.
Cooper Koch and Nicholas Chavez portray the titular brothers, Erik and Lyle Menendez, respectively. Koch has appeared in They/Them while Chavez has played series regular Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital, winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series in 2022. Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny plays the Menendez parents while Nathan Lane portrays Dominick Dunne. Ari Graynor plays lead counsel for Erik Menendez, Leslie Abramson. Leslie Grossman stars as Judalon Smyth.
