Scott Pilgrim Takes Off season 1 is the first season of the action-adventure romcom Netflix anime series from Bryan Lee O'Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. It is based on O'Malley's graphic novel series and will feature the entire cast from the 2010 Edgar Wright-directed film adaptation reprising their respective roles. O'Malley, BenDavid Grabinski and Wright serve as executive producers, alongside original producers Nira Park, Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, and co-writer Michael Bacall, with Adam Seigel and Eunyoung Choi joining the Pilgrim team as producers. Despite its initial underperformance at the box office, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World gained a devoted following among comic book and movie fans throughout the years. The film is also notable for featuring several actors who appeared in major superhero franchises including Brandon Routh as Superman, Chris Evans as Captain America (one year after the film's release) and Academy Award winner Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
Michael Cera reprises his role as Scott Pilgrim in the anime series alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead who returns as Ramona Flowers. O'Malley was announced as the showrunner, writer and executive producer for the series, alongside BenDavid Grabinski while Abel Góngora was selected to animate the series. The project also features involvement from Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall, who directed and wrote the 2010 live-action film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World respectively, as executive producers.
