The multiverse contains countless possibilities and in season 2 of What if…?, moments from Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are reimagined and expanded upon. Captain Carter will once again wield the shield in a battle against Hydra, Odin and The Mandarin will face off, while Tony Stark, the Hulk and Valkyrie unite on a distant planet. The season features unexpected crossovers and new alliances, turning timelines on their heads, and bringing back familiar and beloved Marvel characters.

What If…? season 2 is the second season of the animated anthology TV series created by A.C. Bradley for Disney+. The series delves into alternative timelines within the multiverse, portraying how major events from the MCU films would have played out if they happened differently. The first two seasons were led by Bradley as the head writer while Bryan Andrews takes the helm as the director. Jeffrey Wright, best known for his roles in Westworld and The Batman, leads the series as the voice of the Watcher, a representative of the alien Watcher species whose primary role is to observe the various realities within the multiverse. Both the first and second season run for nine episodes. At SDCC 2022, the first episode of the second season of What If...?, titled "What If... Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?", was screened in its entirety.
Many of the voiceover actors from the first season of What If...? return for the second season. These include Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Josh Keaton as Steve Rogers and Lake Bell as Natasha Romanoff. Elizabeth Olsen and Rachel Weisz, who played Wanda Maximoff and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU respectively, reprised their roles. Additionally, Thor: Ragnarok's Cate Blanchett appears in the series as Thor's sister Hela.
