His breakout role came with “Jesus’ Son" (1999), in which Crudup starred in the lead role before going on to roles in “Almost Famous” (2000), “Big Fish” (2003), “Mission: Impossible III” (2006), and “The Good Shepherd” (2006). He landed the role of Dr. Manhattan in “Watchmen” (2009) before starring as J. Edgar Hoover in the movie “Public Enemies” (2009). His career on the big screen also includes movies such as “The Stanford Prison Experiment” (2015), “Jackie” (2016), “Alien Covenant” (2017), “Justice League” (2017), and “Jay Kelly” (2025). Crudup has had main roles in a selection of different television shows, including “Gypsy” (2017), “The Morning Show" (2019–), and “Hello Tomorrow!” (2023). He is a Tony Award-winning stage actor who has had a celebrated career in theater that dates back to the mid-90s.
