2002 was a strange period for WWE. The federation was in a transitional phase, shifting from the Attitude Era to the Ruthless Aggression Era. It was also the year the company officially changed its name from WWF to WWE. Not everything made sense at the time, but one thing WWE did get right was the creation of WWE Films (later changed to WWE Studios). The film studio was a natural extension of its entertainment business, giving wrestlers like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena a platform to break into Hollywood while also producing films that helped attract new fans to the world of wrestling.
WWE Studios has collaborated with major studios, such as Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Samuel Goldwyn Films, Sony Pictures Animation, and Warner Bros., to produce a wider range of films and has released over 59 films to date. That’s a lot of movies to wrestle with. So, if you’re interested in watching the best of the best, here are the top 10 WWE movies that slam the rest and take home the title for us.
10. The Scorpion King (2002)
Co-produced by WWF Entertainment (now WWE Studios) and Universal Pictures, The Scorpion King is special for two reasons. It was the studio’s first film, and it marked Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s transition from WWE wrestler to Hollywood superstar. A prequel to The Mummy franchise, the movie stars The Rock as Mathayus, a fierce warrior hired as an assassin to eliminate a powerful sorcerer. When he discovers that the sorcerer is a woman, he chooses to protect her instead and turns on the man who hired him, setting him on the path to becoming the Scorpion King.

Kane stars as Jacob Goodnight, a brutal and psychologically tormented killer who hunts down a group of delinquents sent to restore an abandoned hotel as part of their community service, killing them one by one with his meat hook and chain.
