Walker Scobell stars as the demigod Percy Jackson, in Disney's live adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an upcoming live-action fantasy drama series created for Disney+ Hotstar. The series is based on the bestselling set of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' books by Rick Riordan. In addition to being the original author, Rick, has also signed on as an executive producer for the series, and helped co-write the pilot episode.
Rick Riordan and his co-showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg, worked together on adapting the first novel into the screenplay for the first season of the show. This is the second time the franchise is being adapted to a live-action. The previous two films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters didn't do well commercially, but this is the first time the original author is involved in the making of the live-adaptation. The eight episode season has been directed by James Bobin, Anders Engstrom, and Jet Wilkinson.
Walker Scobell, the kid from The Adam Project, plays the role of Percy Jackson. He is joined by Leah Sava Jeffries as Athena's daughter, Annabeth, and Aryan Simhadri as Percy's bestfriend and a satyr. Virginia Kull, from Big Little Lies plays the role of Percy's mother, while Glynn Turner plays the role of Mr Brunner, a centaur disguised as Percy's Latin teacher. Jason Mantzoukas plays the role of Mr D, the head of camp half blood.
Joining the villains we have Megan Mullally as Ms Dodds, Percy's strict math teacher and one of the three furies that serves god Hades. Timm Sharp as Percy's abusive stepfather. Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse, the daughter of Ares, and Percy's bully, and Adam Copeland as Ares himself.
