The series is based on the bestselling set of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' books by Rick Riordan. In addition to being the original author, Rick, has also signed on as an executive producer for the series, and helped co-write the pilot episode.
Rick Riordan and his co-showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg, worked together on adapting the first novel into the screenplay for the first season of the show. This is the second time the franchise is being adapted to a live-action. The previous two films Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters didn't do well commercially, but this is the first time the original author is involved in the making of the live-adaptation. The eight episode season has been directed by James Bobin, Anders Engstrom, and Jet Wilkinson.
