Synopsis
Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach must take on Bowser to save the Mushroom Kingdom
Bowser is the biggest, baddest koopa in all the Mushroom Kingdom. When he makes a grab for power, it’s down to two dungaree-wearing Italian plumbers, Mario and Luigi, to take him down. They team up with Toad and Princess Peach as they brave adventures around the kingdom.
The beloved Nintendo hero gets his own animated movie. The world’s favorite plumber leaps onto the big screen alongside his friends. This includes characters such as Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong and Toad.Super Mario Bros. is inspired by the Nintendo video game franchise of the same name. The animated movie was produced by Illumination, the studio responsible for titles such as Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets and Sing. Although a live action Mario movie was released in 1993, the film is unrelated to the character’s animated adventure.

Nintendo teams up with Illumination to bring the Mario Bros. to life
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an animated film created by Nintendo and distributed by Universal Pictures. The movie is based on Nintendo’s iconic video games following the Italian plumber Mario and his friends in the Mushroom Kingdom. The computer animation studio behind the Despicable Me franchise, Illumination, teams up with Nintendo to bring Super Mario Bros. to life. The video games have so far been adapted twice to the screen, with The Super Mario Bros. Movie marking the third adaptation.
Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who previously created the animated series Teen Titans Go!, direct The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The script is written by Matthew Fogel. The cast includes Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) as the voice of Mario, Charlie Day as Mario’s brother Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) as Princess Peach, and Jack Black (School of Rock) as the dastardly Bowser. Comic actor Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele) voices Toad, and Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) voices Donkey Kong.
