Celebrated actor Brian Cox is the recipient of two Laurence Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. A massive presence whether on stage or screen, Cox is known for his performances dating back to the early 1970s, making his on-screen debut as Leon Trotsky in “Nicholas and Alexandra” (1971) and following that up by starring as Dr. Hannibal Lecktor in “Manhunter” (1986). Throughout the 90s, he had roles in major movies such as “Braveheart” (1995), “The Long Kiss Goodnight” (1996), “The Boxer” (1997), culminating in the two-part docudrama “Nuremberg” (2000). Cox’s career throughout the 2000s saw him star in tentpole movies such as “The Bourne Identity” (2002), “The Ring” (2002), “X2” (2003), “Troy” (2004), and “Zodiac” (2007) in between small or independent films such as “Adaptation.” (2002), “25th Hour” (2002), and “The Escapist” (2008). Despite roles in multiple television series, including the likes of “Deadwood” (2006) and “War & Peace” (2016), Cox made a huge impact in the era of the series with his unstoppable performance as Logan Roy in “Succession” (2018–2023). His other notable movie roles include “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011), “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” (2016), “Churchill” (2017), and “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” (2024). He made his feature directorial debut with “Glenrothan” (2025) and has consistently starred in plays on stage since the late 1960s.
