The Jurassic Park franchise was brought to life in the early 90s when Universal Pictures bought the rightsto the unreleased novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. This relatively unknown book has been the bedrockfor all Jurassic Park movies since. Here's some background.

Set in a world in which humans were genetically engineering the return of dinosaurs, Crichton's novel was ofinterest to the filmmaker Steven Spielberg who directed both the 1993 adaptation and the 1997 sequel The Lost World. The movies garnered huge acclaim, both critical and commercial with a special focus on the quality of theeffects and animatronics. The third movie in the franchise Jurassic Park IIIsaw Spielberg step back into the position of executive producer and hand over the directing to JoeJohnstone. The Jurassic Park trilogy was made famous by the iconic performances of actors such as JeffGoldblum, Laura Dern, Julianne Moore and Sam Neil.

In 2015, a new trilogy began with the arrival of the Colin Trevorrow directed-Jurassic World, led by actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Upon release, the movie became the highest-grossingfilm ever produced by Universal Pictures. The Jurassic World trilogy continued with Fallen Kingdom and ended with 2022's Jurassic World Dominion. While the later movies have had a mixed reception from critics, all films in the franchise have been boxoffice hits. Here's a list of all Jurassic Park movies.
