30 Best Tom Hanks Movies Ranked (and where to watch them)

Tom Hanks is an American national treasure. As one of the most popular and well-regarded Hollywood actors, Hanks has featured in innumerable successful movies. Here's a guide to his best performances.

Tom Hanks made a name for himself as a comedic leading actor in the late 80s with a set of performances that culminated in Big, a movie that earned him his first Academy Award nomination. Growing in stature, the actor took the 90s by storm with an unparalleled run of box office hits that were both commercially and critically lauded. He won the Academy Awards for Best Actor in consecutive years for his work on Philadelphia and then Forrest Gump. In 1995, Hanks produced another two timeless performances first as Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 and then as Sheriff Woody in the hit animated movie Toy Story.

After Saving Private Ryan and You've Got Mail in 1998, Hanks returned as Woody in 1999's Toy Story 2 while producing a breathtaking performance in The Green Mile. The decade ended with the movie Castaway, a TomHanks classic that solidified him as Hollywood royalty.

The 2000s saw Hanks ease off the big acting gigs and focus on producing movies. Nonetheless, Catch Me If You Can, The DaVinci Code, and Charlie Wilson's War all saw him light up the big screen with his charisma.Captain Phillips and The Post saw Hanks return to dramatic form while A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood had him play Fred Rogers, the iconic American television host, a role he seemed born to play. Tom Hanks is a cultural icon worldwide and these are his movies ranked with where to watch them.
