Synopsis
Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed are a lovestruck couple getting ready for marriage. Before they can tie the knot, the pair must meet each other’s families. Barris is best known for creating the award-winning ABC sitcom black-ish while also directing Coming 2 America and the 2019 remake of Shaft. You People marks the first time in his career that he is writing, directing, and producing a movie. Actor, comedian, and producer Jonah Hill takes a co-writing credit as well as playing one of the lead roles in Ezra Cohen. The music for the movie is provided by singer, songwriter, and producer Bekon.
You People has a star-studded cast of performers led by Lauren London and Jonah Hill as couple Ezra and Amira. Eddie Murphy, the veteran comedian and actor, plays Akbar Mohammed, Amira’s father. He is paired with award-winning Nia Long playing Fatima, Amira’s mother. Julia Louis Dreyfus and David Duchovny portray Ezra’s parents, Shelley and Arnold.
