Synopsis

The Dance of the Dragons has arrived and there is civil war for House Targaryen

Two separate monarchs have been crowned in the wake of the passing of King Viserys the Peaceful. At King's Landing, Aegon II Targaryen has been crowned and assumed King by the Green's. Meanwhile, on the island of Dragonstone, the origin place of House Targaryen, Rhaenyra Targaryen has been crowned Queen by the Blacks. These opposing factions come to a head in the Dance of the Dragons as civil war looms.

What to know

Season 2 of House of the Dragon continues to adapt the works of George R.R. Martin

House of the Dragon Season 2 is the upcoming second season of the fantasy series by HBO based on the book Fire & Blood by author George R.R. Martin. The story takes place within the “A Song of Ice and Fire” universe that brought the HBO series, Game of Thrones, to the small screen. George R.R. Martin co-developed the series with Ryan Condal. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik serve as executive producers. Writers for the second season include Ryan Condal, David Hancock, Sara Hess, and Ti Mikkel. 

The cast for the second season includes Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen. Olivia Cooke returns as Alicent Hightower. Emma D'Arcy portrays Rhaenyra Targaryen. Rhys Ifan is Otto Hightower while Steve Toussaint plays Corlys Velaryon. Eve Best plays Rhaenys Targaryen and Sonoya Mizuno plays Mysaria. The wider cast includes Fabien Frankel, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Jefferson Hall, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Ewan Mithcell among others.
