On flight 357 to Beijing, Dr. Matthew Nolan faces accusations of a crime and is escorted by London police officer DC Hana Li. Amidst the journey, she becomes entangled in a deepening conspiracy and a rising series of murders.
Red Eye is an upcoming action-conspiracy TV series for ITV. It is written by Peter A. Dowling and Jingan Young. Dowling is best known for crafting such high-octane thrillers as 2005's Flightplan and 2019's Black and Blue. Kieron Hawkes directs the six-episode series after working on such titles as Not Safe for Work and Power. The series is produced by Bad Wolf which is an award-winning production company behind such popular works as The Night Of and Doctor Who.
After narrowly surviving a car crash in Beijing, Dr. Matthew Nolan returns to London and is promptly arrested at Heathrow Airport, accused of murdering a woman from the crash. Despite his claim of driving alone, Nolan faces extradition to China. London officer DC Hana Li, assigned to escort him, discovers a series of suspicious deaths during the flight, prompting her to suspect foul play. Meanwhile, Hana's sister and journalist, Jess Li, investigates Nolan's case while MI5's Madeline Delaney risks her career to unveil an international conspiracy implicating both China and her own government.
Richard Armitage portrays Dr. Matthew Nolan. He is best known for appearing in The Hobbit trilogy as Thorin Oakenshield. He is joined by Crazy Rich Asians actress Jing Lusi as DC Hana Li. The rest of the cast includes Lesley Sharp, Jemma Moore, Dan Li, Kevan MacKenzie, Daphne Cheung and Xiangyi Tan.
