Synopsis
A sweeping family saga spanning the 20th century in Italy, from rural Friuli to industrial Turin, through two world wars and the postwar reconstruction. Three generations of the Sartori family struggle in the pursuit of personal success, the dream of revolution, a teaching position at a school, and even the ring of a boxing match. The protagonists are women and men, builders and destroyers, eternal archetypes seeking their place in the world. Weighing on them are the sins of their fathers, a primal force to be fought against that seems to condemn them all. The new generations, the youngest among the Sartoris, will finally find the strength to break free thanks to the words of Nadia, the matriarch of the family, the generative force and eternal protagonist of this story.
