In November 2000, a group of South-East London criminals, led by Lee Wenham and Ray Betson, orchestrated an elaborate plan to steal the Millennium Star—a 203.04-carat, D-flawless diamond valued at £200 million—from the Millennium Dome in Greenwich. Their scheme involved ramming a JCB digger into the Dome's walls, breaching the vault with power tools, and escaping via speedboat down the River Thames. However, unbeknownst to them, the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad had been monitoring their every move.
