Daniel Brühl first gained acclaim for his performance in the movie “Good Bye, Lenin!” (2003), after having started his career by starring in independent European films such as “Deeply” (2000), “The White Sound” (2001), and “Vaya con Dios” (2002). He starred in the British movie “Ladies in Lavender” (2004) directed by Charles Dance before going on to make his major Hollywood debut with “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007). He starred alongside Julie Delpy in “2 Days in Paris” (2007) and again in “The Countess” (2009) before starring in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” (2009). Brühl returned for the sequel movie “2 Days in New York” (2011) before starring in a series of high-profile movies such as “The Fifth Estate” (2013), “A Most Wanted Man” (2014) and Rush” (2013), the latter of which earned him a slew of nominations. Brühl rose to the dizzy heights of stardom by appearing as Helmut Zemo in the Marvel movie “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), a role he reprised for the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (2021). He was already known for his main role in the television show “The Alienist” (2018–2020), and went on to star in series such as “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld” (2024), and “The Franchise” (2024). He made his directorial debut with the movie “Next Door” (2021) and executive produced “All Quiet on the Western Front” (2022) which he also starred in. Brühl appears in the survival thriller “Eden” (2024) and “The Entertainment System Is Down” (2026) from filmmaker Ruben Ostlund.
