Air is a biopic directed by Ben Affleck for Amazon Studios. It is the fifth theatrical film directed by Affleck who earned an Academy Award for Best Picture for 2012's Argo. It is written by Alex Convery and produced by Affleck along with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jon Weinbach, Matt Damon, Madison Ainley, Jeff Robinov, Peter Guber and Jason Michael Berman.
Ben Affleck acts and directs alongside long-time friend and frequent collaborator Matt Damon. The pair have known each other since childhood and have appeared in nine films together including Air. Affleck portrays Phil Knight while Damon plays Sonny Vaccaro. Although Air revolves around Michael Jordan, his character is not portrayed by anyone in the film.
Academy Award winner Viola Davis and her real-life husband Julius Tennon portray Jordan’s parents Deloris Jordan and James R. Jordan Sr. respectively. Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans and Chris Tucker star in the film along with Matthew Maher, Tom Papa, Joel Gretsch, Gustaf Skarsgård, Barbara Sukowa, Jessica Green and Dan Bucatinsky rounding out the cast.
