Indian film adaptation of the popular fictional rock band finds home at Netflix
The Archies is an Indian live-action musical film adaptation directed by Zoya Akhtar for Netflix. It is based on the fictional rock band of the same name which originally appeared in the Archie Comics series. Akhtar is a Bollywood filmmaker having previously directed such works as Ghost Stories, Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. Akhtar wrote the screenplay for The Archies alongside Ayesha DeVitre and Reema Kagti. The Darjeeling Limited and Life of Pi’s costume designer Poornamrita Singh handles the costume design for The Archies.
The main cast for The Archies contains a number of offspring from some of Bollywood's most prominent names including the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan as Veronica Lodge. The daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor as Betty Cooper and the grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Agastya Nanda as Archie Andrews. Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Delnaaz Irani, Jamie Alter, Pulkit Varshney, Yuvraj Menda and Abhinandan Tejaswi round out the cast.
