Paul Sturges takes his family on a vacation to Mexico while also planning to inspect his oil rig located off the coast. Upon arriving at the town, he notices that it has drastically changed and has become a ghost town. Despite being warned by locals about a legendary shark, he takes his family with him to the oil rig which is in a state of disrepair. There, he discovers that the rig had awakened a megalodon, a prehistoric shark, which was killing anyone who tried to leave the platform. With the platform slowly sinking, Paul has to find a way to save his family from the monstrous shark.
