Exploding Kittens season 1 is the upcoming season of Netflix's adult-animated comedy TV series from Shane Kosakowski and Matthew Inman.
Yes, Exploding Kittens is based on the successful card game of the same name wherein players draw cards until an exploding kitten card is revealed. Should a player draw the explosive card, they are eliminated from the game unless they have a defuse card. The defuse card allows players to block the impending explosion using beloved feline-focused items like laser pointers, belly rubs or catnip sandwiches.
Shane Kosakowski, known for his work on TV shows like Archer and You're The Worst, collaborates with Inman, the original creator of the Exploding Kittens game, on the TV series. Inman also takes on the role of an executive producer for Exploding Kittens, working alongside Chernin Entertainment and the celebrated comedy duo, Mike Judge and Greg Daniels of Bandera Entertainment. Judge and Daniels have been involved in such iconic comedy TV shows such as Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill and The Office.
Tom Ellis provides the lead voice role of GodCat in Exploding Kittens. He previously portrayed fallen angel Lucifer in the popular TV show. It aired on Fox from 2016 to 2018 and then continued on Netflix from 2019 to 2021. Lucy Liu (Elementary), Abraham Lim (The Boys), Ally Maki (Shortcomings), Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows), David Gborie (How to Be Broke) and Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics) round out the supporting voice cast.
The series will begin streaming on Netflix in 2024.
