It never occurred to 40-year-old Dr. Martin Gruber that he would one day return to his hometown in the Alps for good. Prompted by external circumstances, he gives up his job in New York and opens a practice in the mountains. Now he must deal with all kinds of family problems, for his resentful brother is there, as well as a daughter he never knew he had. But among the challenges he faces every day in his work, he finds variety, adventure, great emotions, and fulfillment.
