William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes live a simple life, with him a playwright and her a mystical herbalist. But when their son Hamnet is struck down by the plague and killed, the pair fall into an unimaginable grief. William turns to the page to express his pain and writes the play that would come to be known as Hamlet.
