Sedentary (2018)

Sedentary It is a movie within a movie within another movie inside another movie. A paralyzed young man who spends most of his time watching TV and staying at home is drawn into the world of movies. Living the stories of the movies is his escape from his mundane and static life. Story is told backwards. FADE IN Three friends; Shahzaib, his girlfriend and his best friend Ali, are smoking weed in woods. A killer clown appears out of nowhere and both his girlfriend and friend dis at his hands. Now it is Shahzaib's turn. He closes his eyes and starts praying for his life... LOUD SCREAM We learn through a "match cut" that all this time he was present in his home watching movie with his friends. In his lounge, things get complicated when a gangster shows up claiming they owe him money. Suddenly triggered, shoots both of the friends and turns towards our protagonist. In a desperate attempt to avoid the inevitable, our protagonist closes his eyes and begs for his life... BANG... Through a "J cut" we learn that he was just watching a movie in a cinema hall with his girlfriend. After spending and enjoying whole day, it is time for the big kiss, but screen goes dark. We zoom out and learn that his mom turned off the TV and he is sitting there in his lounge in his wheelchair. We see them going for a walk. He is telling how these movies help him feel alive. We keep hearing their talk while they are moving away. Camera pulls out and we see the park in the distance they are heading to.
