James Bond is Britain’s most famous spy. The MI6 secret agent, who operates under the codename 007, has been the subject of one of the longest running and most successful film franchises in history. Find out where you can stream every James Bond movie in our streaming guide below.

James Bond is a fictional character created by British writer Ian Fleming. Fleming wrote twelve novels and two collections of short stories about the spy, and published the first novel “Casino Royale” in 1953. In 1961, film producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman purchased the film rights to Fleming’s novels and founded Eon Productions. Eon Productions holds the adaptation rights to all of Fleming’s 007 novels and has produced every film in the franchise except Casino Royale (1954), Casino Royale (1967) and Never Say Never Again (1983).

Eon Productions is now headed by Barbara Broccoli (Albert’s daughter) and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson. The James Bond movies have won six Academy Awards including Best Sound Effects and Best Original Song (three times), and grossed a combined USD $7.8 billion.

To date, there have been twenty eight James Bond movies produced with eight actors who have played the iconic British spy. Six of which were involved in the Eon-produced Bond films. The actors are Barry Nelson, David Niven, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Each actor brought their own flair to their portrayal of 007, with Roger Moore and Sean Connery starring in the most number of films (seven movies each).
