The Best Andrew Scott Movies and TV Shows Streaming Online

Updated on

Andrew Scott is an award-winning Irish actor best known for his role in iconic TV series such as Phoebe Waller Bridge’s Fleabag and the BBC’s Sherlock. The Dublin-born actor most recently starred in the lead role in Andrew Haig’s supernatural romance, All of Us Strangers, alongside Paul Mescal. Read on to discover the best Andrew Scott performances ranked and where to watch them on popular streaming platforms in the United kingdom today.

For his poignant role as Adam in the heart-breaking All of Us Strangers, Scott was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, alongside the overwhelming praise for the film and cast after its premiere at international film festivals in 2023. With a modest budget ($2.7 million), this film had a colossal impact on both audiences and critics being named as one of the top ten independent films of 2023 by the National Board of Review.

Though Scott appeared in television programmes prior to his time as James Moriarty in Sherlock in 2010, it was this role that raised the actor into prominent leading roles. For his portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s well-written nemesis to Sherlock Holmes, Scott won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. Soon after, the actor returned in another fan-favourite role as the priest in the second season of the Emmy award-winning series, Fleabag.

Meanwhile, Scott joined the cast of well-received films such as Catherine Called Birdy, Pride and 1917, as well as taking on a lead role in the 2015 James Bond epic, Spectre, as Max Denbigh. The penultimate film in Daniel Craig’s reign as Bond went onto dominate the box office, grossing $880 million worldwide on a $300 million budget becoming the sixth-highest grossing film of that year.

In between his long-running roles, the acclaimed actor has popped up throughout popular TV series for one-off episodes such as starring in Netflix’s Black Mirror and Modern Love. Off-screen, Scott has been a regular on the West End winning two Laurence Olivier Awards for his role in the 2005 play A Girl in a Car with a Man and his portrayal of Garry Essendine in Present Laughter in 2019.

Scott brings out the best in every role he’s given, which makes it difficult to hold one performance in higher esteem than another. However, in his most recent role in Haig’s supernatural romance All of Us Strangers, Scott spends the entire film offering a captivating performance with such intricate nuance to each line and emotion that it’s nothing short of bewitching and heart-breaking to watch.

His renowned TV roles in Fleabag and Sherlock follow in swift succession, as the actor once again shines in each of these roles in a standout ensemble.

Scott is also set to return to the small screen in an eight-part psychological thriller titled Ripley, which is based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley. The actor takes on the titular role as Tom Ripley in a star-studded cast alongside Johnny Flynn, Dakota Fanning and John Malkovich.
