What to know
Extraction 2 is an upcoming action thriller film produced by Netflix. It is the sequel to Netflix’s 2020 film Extraction. Both films are directed by Sam Hargrave, who made his directorial debut with the first film. The film is based on the graphic novel Ciudad written by Anthony and Joe Russo (who directed four of the highly successful Marvel superhero movies), and Ande Parks. Joe Russo pens the screenplay once again for the sequel. The first Extraction film set records in 2020 as one of the biggest-ever film premieres on Netflix.
Chris Hemsworth returns for the sequel to play Tyler Rake, a former SASR officer turned mercenary. The acclaimed Iranian actor Golshifteh Farahani also returns as Nik Khan, Rake’s partner and fellow mercenary. Adam Bessa features as Yaz Kahn, another part of the mercenary crew, and Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also feature.
