A therapist enters a parallel dimension in search of a patient who is trapped beyond time and space. A simple furniture store basement holds the key to the mysterious world of the Backrooms, where strange spirits assert their presence in unsettling ways. As Mary discovers the whereabouts of her missing patient Clark, she is introduced to the bizarre otherworld where he has escaped to in order to leave reality behind.
