What to know

The Flash welcomes in a new DC Extended Universe era

The Flash is an American superhero film based on the DC comic book character of the same name. It fits into the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) cinematic franchise which includes Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman. The film is directed by Andy Muschietti (It, It Chapter Two) with a screenplay from Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey).

Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) stars as Barry Allen / The Flash, with Ron Livingston (Office Space) portraying his father Henry Allen, who is wrongfully accused of murdering his wife. Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Ben Affleck (Argo) both reprise their roles as Batman for the film. Keaton first donned the iconic suit in Tim Burton’s Batman and will reprise his role in The Flash as Bruce Wayne from an alternate universe. This film will be Ben Affleck’s last appearance as Batman in the DCEU. Sasha Calle also makes her feature film debut at Kara Zor-El/ Supergirl, and is the first Latina to play the role.
