Synopsis

Aang must master all four elements to restore peace in the world

After being frozen in ice for a hundred years, Aang wakes up to find that he is the only remaining airbender. In his absence, the fire nation killed all of the other airbenders, and it’s now up to him to restore peace to the world. Teaming up with his friends Katara and Sokka, Aang must learn to master the elements and fight against the evil that runs rampant.

Nickelodeon animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, gets Netflix live-action adaptation

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a live-action adventure fantasy series, and an adaptation of the animated show of the same name. The original animated series, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, premiered on Nickelodeon from 2005 - 2008. Nickelodeon then released a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, from 2012 - 2014. The series is produced by Rideback and Nickelodeon, and is distributed by Netflix. Season 1 will consist of 8 one-hour long episodes. Dan Lin, producer of Aladdin, Sherlock Holmes and The Lego Movie, is an executive producer alongside Lindsey Liberatore, Michael Goi, Roseanne Liang and Albert Kim. 

Canadian actor Gordon Cormier stars as Aang, the last airbender and avatar who is able to wield all four elements. Kiawentiio plays waterbender Katara and Ian Ousley is her brother, Sokka. Playing the exiled prince of the fire nation, Prince Zuko, is Dallas Liu, with Paul Sun-Hung Lee as his mentor, General Iroh. Daniel Dae Kim plays Fire Lord Ozai, and James Sie reprises his role from the animated series as the Cabbage Merchant.
