Season 2 became one of the most highly viewed seasons in Prime Video history, following the love triangle of Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad on Cousins Beach. And now that Belly and Jeremiah are officially dating, the fallout will undoubtedly be a major plot point in season 3.
Prime Video announced the renewal of the show earlier on August 3, meaning that The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 is coming. Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka will return as co-showrunners for the third season.
Vernon Sanders, Amazon and MGM Studios head of television said Summer Fridays have become “an entertainment phenomenon” and “we’re excited to share the news that [fans] have a lot more Summer to look forward to…”
When will season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty be available?
A release date for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 hasn’t been announced yet. The hope is that the show will return in summer 2024, just like season 1 aired in June 22, and season 2 in July 2023. Production will also depend on when there is a conclusion to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
What will season 3 be about?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on Jenny Han’s bestselling novels. The trilogy includes The Summer I Turned Pretty (2010), It’s Not Summer Without You (2011) and We’ll Always Have Summer (2012). It’s likely that season 3 of the show will be an adaptation of the third book in Han’s book trilogy, We’ll Always Have Summer.
What happens in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?
No details about the plot for season 3 have been released yet. Since the series is an adaptation of the books, there’s a good chance that at least some of the storylines will be the same. Here is the blurb of Han’s third novel We’ll Always Have Summer.

Will season 3 be the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Season 3 will include ten episodes, two more than the previous seasons, which could mean the show needs more time to wrap up the story. Considering there are only three books, the series may end after the third season. This was the same for the movie adaptations of Han’s To All The Boys I Loved Before book series on Netflix. Don’t lose hope though - Netflix then created the spin-off series XO, Kitty.
With Han as showrunner on The Summer I Turned Pretty though, there’s always the chance that new storylines and characters will deviate from the original books. There’s plenty of potential for more fun in the The Summer I Turned Pretty universe.
