Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the duo behind Nine Inch Nails, are scoring upcoming movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. After skateboarder Tony Hawk spilled the news in an interview on the Through The Lens Podcast, the film’s director Jeff Rowe confirmed it on Twitter.

Rowe wrote “Well now that my teenage hero @tonyhawk has leaked that my music heroes are doing this I can add that the score is absolutely AMAZING. Exhilarating, terrifying, heartbreaking, full of sounds I didn’t know existed. I don’t have the vocabulary to describe it. I love it so much

 

 

Before he was the frontman of Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor was a highly sought-after composer in Hollywood. Reznor worked on films like David Lynch’s Lost Highway and Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers

Reznor and Atticus Ross frequently produced music through Nine Inch Nails, and the two are now frequent collaborators as film composers on some of the biggest films in the world. 

Their work is wide-ranging, with the two-time Academy Award winning duo having previously scored The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl and Pixar’s Soul. From grand orchestral arrangements, to mellow electronic ambience sounds, Reznor and Ross have proved that they can create an iconic score for any genre. 

So what can we expect from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem? Here’s what we know so far. 

New York City’s ninjutsu-fighting, pizza-obsessed turtle brothers are returning in an animated feature film. The voice cast includes The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, The Chi’s Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Cousins for Life’s Micah Abbey as Donatello and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changer’s Brady Noon as Raphael. Jackie Chan voices Splinter, with The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri as the Turtles’ friend, April O’Neil. 

Paul Rudd, Rose Byrne, John Cena, Ice Cube, Maya Rudolph, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Natasha Demetriou and Seth Rogan star in the film. Seth Rogan additionally writes and executive produces the film alongside long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg, Their previous work includes Superbad and Pineapple Express.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits UK cinemas on 4th August, 2023.
