When estranged sisters Ellie and Beth finally reconnect, Beth comes to visit her sister and her three children in their small apartment in Los Angeles. But when a cursed text awakening a flesh-possessing demon is discovered in the building and the demon begins its monstrous work, Beth must brave it all to get her and the children out alive.
Evil Dead Rise is a supernatural horror-thriller produced by Warner Bros. Studios and New Line Cinema, and distributed in the UK by StudioCanal. The film is the fifth instalment in the Evil Dead franchise, created by director and producer Sam Raimi. Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) writes and directs this instalment, and was handpicked for the job by Sam Raimi himself. Original Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell executive produces, along with Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi. Stephen McKeon, who worked with Cronin on The Hole in the Ground, develops the suspenseful score for the film. Cinematographer Dave Garbett is once again behind the camera, after previously lending his talents to the Evil Dead franchise. Bryan Shaw, who edited the 2013 Evil Dead reboot, returns as editor for Evil Dead Rise. True to the franchise's blood-spattered style, over 6,500 litres of fake blood was used during the making of the fifth instalment.
Alyssa Sutherland plays Ellie, a single mother struggling to raise three kids in a small apartment in LA. Lily Sullivan, plays her estranged sister, Beth, who visits the family when all hell breaks loose. Other cast members include Ali Asghar Shah, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Neil Fisher, Mia Challis, and others.
