In 1960s India, a group of friends come together to form a band, The Archies, as they move through their vibrant teenage years, exploring love, friendship, and the wonders of life together.
The Archies is an upcoming Indian coming-of-age live-action musical comedy produced by Tiger Baby Films and Graphic India for a Netflix distribution. The film is based on the Archie comics created by Bob Montana and John L. Goldwater, who also received writing credits on the film. Other screenplay writers include Ayesha DeVitre, Reema Kagti, and the film’s director, Zoya Akhtar. Her previous works include Gully Boy and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Poornamrita Singh designs the film’s costumes, having previously used her talents for Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited, Life of Pi, and Akhtar’s Gully Boy.
The film is based on the fictional rock band The Archies, who appear in the Archie comics and features the main characters Archie Andrews, Reggie Mantle, Forsythe ‘Jughead’ Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Kevin Keller. The cast of The Archies is made up of young talent, including singer and musician Aditi Dot, Agastya Nanda in his first on-screen role, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, and model-actor Mihir Ahuja. Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, also stars in the film alongside Yuvraj Menda.
