He has starred as iconic figures both fictional and historical, including James Moriarty in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (2011), Ulysses S. Grant in “Lincoln” (2012), King George VI in “The Crown” (2016-17), and Andy Warhol in “I Shot Andy Warhol” (1996). His leading role as the prophetic scientist Hari Seldon in the television series “Foundation” (2021–) sees him bring his skill and experience to Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi universe.
