AIR: Courting a Legend is an American sports-drama produced by Amazon Studios. Based on the true story of how Nike and Michael Jordan began their collaboration, the film is directed by Ben Affleck (Argo) and written by Alex Convery.
Affleck stars in the film alongside his long-time filmmaking partner Matt Damon. The duo first collaborated in 1997 on the film Good Will Hunting. Affleck plays Nike founder Phil Knight, and Damon portrays the visionary sports marketing exec Sonny Vaccaro. AIR also stars Viola Davis as Michael Jordan's mother Deloris. The main cast is rounded out by heavy hitters Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, and Chris Tucker.
While Michael Jordan himself does not appear as a character in the film, he has an overarching presence throughout. AIR marks the first film produced by a streaming company to have a theatrical release with a screening window comparable to, or longer than that of big film studios.
