Synopsis
With unexplained blackouts causing a global crisis, these families must find a way to survive
Heading off on holiday to Long Island, Amanda and Clay are ready to relax with their two kids. When another couple delivers news of a massive blackout approaching, with people all over the world are about to be plunged into the darkness, the two couples must all figure out a way to stay safe together in their new circumstance.

Leave the world behind is a thriller film written and directed by Sam Esmail, who is best known for creating the critically acclaimed series Mr. Robot. Leave the world behind is based on Rumaan Alam’s eponymous novel, and is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground for Netflix. The series is produced by Esmail and Julia Roberts, who previously collaborated on Amazon Prime Video’s Homecoming, alongside Chad Hamilton, Marisa Yeres Gill and Lisa Gillan.
Academy Award winner Julia Roberts also leads the cast, playing the character Amanda. The cast also includes Hollywood heavy-hitters Ethan Hawke, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali and Kevin Bacon, with Myha’la Herrold, Farrah Mckenzie and Charlie Evans.
