Synopsis

Can Seiya face his past in order to fulfil his destiny?

Street orphan Seiya learns that his life is meant for great things as a Knight of the Zodiac. In order to protect the human incarnation of the goddess Athena, Seiya must face his dark past and overcome the challenges that have brought him to this point in his life. Only then can he fulfil his destiny of protecting and saving the world.

Mackenyu stars in manga Saint Seiya: Knight of the Zodiac movie adaptation

Knights of the Zodiac is a fantasy-action adventure film with a screenplay developed by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken and Kiel Murray. The story is based on Masami Kumumada’s Saint Seiya: Knight of the Zodiac manga series. The film is directed by Tomasz Bagiński, who serves as executive producer on The Witcher, and also has extensive experience working in video games. Knights of the Zodiac is produced by Yoshi Ikezawa, Joseph Chou and Tim Kwok for Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Mackenyu (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final) plays Seiya the Pegasus Knight, alongside Madison Iseman (Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle) as Sienna/ Athena. Famke Janssen (Goldeneye) plays Guraad, Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) plays Alman Kiddo and Diego Tinoco (On My Block) as Nero the Phoenix Knight. Caitlin Hutson, Nick Stahl (Fear the Walking Dead) and Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum) make up the remaining cast. Shooting took place on location in Hungary between July and September 2021 with a production budget of USD $60 million.
