Synopsis
Czech astronaut Jakub Prochazka goes on extraterrestrial mission
Growing up in the Czech Republic countryside with his grandparents, Jakub Prochazka dreamed of a career in science and eventually became the first Czech astronaut. When he embarks on a mission to the planet Venus, Jakub leaves everything he knows behind as he searches for ancient dust. On the mission, Jakub comes face to face with an unknown creature who teaches him about the meaning of life and death, as he explores life outside of planet Earth.

Spaceman is a Netflix science-fiction space movie, based on Jaroslav Kalfar’s 2017 novel, Spaceman of Bohemia. The film is directed by Johan Renck, who previously directed all five episodes of the Emmy Award winning miniseries Chernobyl. The screenplay is written by Colby Day, with a score from Emmy and Grammy nominated composer Max Richter, who worked on Ad Astra and Arrival. The film is produced by Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Michael Parets, Peter Kiernan, Timothy Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva.
Adam Sandler stars in the film as Czech astronaut Jakub Prochazka, who goes on an expedition to Venus. Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) stars as Hanuš, Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) as Jakub’s wife Lenka, Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) as Petr, and Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet) as Jakub’s grandmother.
