Transformers Prime producer adapts popular tabletop game for Netflix
Magic: The Gathering season 1 is the upcoming season for Netflix's animated fantasy TV series from Jeff Kline. The series is based on the tabletop RPG of the same name created by Richard Garfield and is produced and distributed by Netflix in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro. Kline, who has previously worked on popular animated shows like Transformers: Prime, Robots in Disguise, and My Friends Tigger & Pooh, serves as the executive producer of the series. While the Russo brothers were originally involved in the project, they left in August 2021.
Steve Melching, a member of the well-known creative team behind Star Wars: The Clone Wars, serves as the story editor and co-executive producer of Magic: The Gathering. Snowball Studios is the animation studio responsible for the series, with art direction supervised by Izzy Medrano. The writing team includes Taneka Stotts, Dan Frey, Nicole Dubuc, and Russell Sommer.
Brandon Routh, who portrayed Superman in the 2006 superhero film Superman Returns, lends his voice to the lead character, Gideon Jura.
