Synopsis
Jin’s life upturns when a new friend introduces him to his supernatural heritage
Jin, an out of place high school student finds a new calling when he befriends a foreign-exchange student who introduces him to the mythical world connected to his ancestry. Tasked with the duty to protect his lineage, Jin Wang must prepare as he comes face to face with Chinese gods and supernatural forces.

Award-winning actors Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan reunite in Disney’s fantasy adventure series ‘American Born Chinese’
American Born Chinese is a fantasy action adaptation of a graphic novel of the same name.
The show is produced by 20th Television for Disney+. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of the superhero Marvel movie Shang Chi serves as the director and executive producer on the show. The costume design is handled by Asian-American designers Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim. Prabal Gurung is a widely acclaimed designer known for styling popular Indian figures such as Alia Bhatt and Isha Ambani.
The fantasy-action series inspired by Chinese culture features a star-studded cast, with Oscar award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh joining the series as mythical Goddess Guanyin. Screen and theater actress Stephanie Hsu portrays Shiji Niangniang, another ancient Goddess. Actor Ben Wang plays Jin Wang, the misfit teenager caught up in the center of the supernatural drama. Jim Liu takes the role of Wei-Chen, the foreign exchange student who introduces Jin to the unknown world. Other prominent characters from Chinese folklore include Princess Iron Fan, played by Poppy Liu and Sun Wukong played on screen by Daniel Wu. Actors Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan reunite after their academy award-winning pairing in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.
