Synopsis
Monkey D Luffy sets sail with his first live-action adventure
Monkey D Luffy is an eager kid with the supernatural ability to extend and bend his body like rubber, and the ambition to become the next pirate king. Driven by the will to turn his dreams to reality, he is all ready to set sail into the depths of the ocean with a gang of quirky misfits and discover the hidden treasure of Gol. D. Roger.

What to know
Netflix teams up with Eiichiro Oda for the live-action adaptation of the legendary adventures of One Piece
One Piece is a live-action adventure series based on an anime of the same name. The series is created in collaboration with Shueisha, and co-produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda run the ship on this live-action adaptation, and serve as the writers and executive producers for the show. They’re joined by Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein as executive producers. Netflix has also roped in Eiichiro Oda, the Japanese manga artist and creator of the original One Piece to bring this adaptation to life.
The series explores the East Blue arc storyline from the manga, and will unfold over a series of eight episodes. Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy has been cast to play the role of Luffy. He is joined by Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
