Synopsis

FBI agents interrogate Reality Winner for a gruelling hour

On June 3, 2017, FBI agents interrogated and arrested the former NSA contractor Reality Winner on charges of leaking classified information. The information she gave the publication The Intercept documented Russian meddling in the 2016 American presidential election. She was subsequently given a prison sentence of five years and three months, the longest sentence ever given for leaking government information.

Reality is a drama film produced by Seaview Productions and Cinereach. The film is based on the true story of Reality Winner, an American whistleblower who leaked information about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election to the publication The Intercept and was interrogated and arrested by the FBI in 2017. Tina Satter makes her directorial debut with the film, adapting the script with James Paul Dallas from the screenplay she had previously written for the play Is This a Room. 

The film stars Sydney Sweeney as the former NSA contractor Reality Winner. Sweeney is known for her roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, in addition to Everything Sucks! and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She is joined by Marchánt Davis and Josh Hamilton, who portray FBI agents R. Wallace Taylor and Justin C. Garrick, respectively.
