Carl Lumbly kicked off his career as a groundbreaking lead in "Cagney & Lacey" (1982–1988), but sci-fi fans will know him better as Marcus Dixon on "Alias" (2001–2006) and for his title role in the cult classic show, "M.A.N.T.I.S." (1994–1995), in which he became the first Black superhero TV lead. He continued his work in superheroes, voicing Martian Manhunter in "Justice League" (2001–2006) and many other projects, including the live-action “Supergirl” show and in various video games. He’s popped up in hits like "Doctor Sleep" (2019) and more recently in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (2021), playing the soulful Isaiah Bradley, America’s forgotten super soldier. Now, he's back in the Marvel spotlight, reprising the role in "Captain America: Brave New World" (2025).
