2025 Oscar Nominations – A Complete List

This guide will show you every movie nominated for the 2025 Oscars and let you know where you can watch them right now.

After delays because of the LA forest fires, the 97th Academy Awards have finally announced its list of nominations. For the 2025 Oscars, Netflix’s Emilia Perez is leading the charge with a whopping 13 nominations, including Best Picture. Not far behind are The Brutalist and Wicked, which each have 10 nominations. But those films will see some hefty competition from other movies that have scored multiple nominations each – like The Substance, Anora, Nickel Boys, and A Real Pain.

The nominations revealed a few surprises as well. Many assumed Angelina Jolie would earn an Oscar nomination for her biopic Maria, but the film was only nominated for one award, Best Cinematography. Nosferatu also surprised fans by earning a few nominations in categories like cinematography, costume design, and Makeup & Hairstyling.

The Best Movies and Shows Like Sakamoto Days That Fans Should Watch

This guide will show you the best movies and shows like Sakamoto Days and let you know where they’re streaming online right now.

Netflix’s latest anime series Sakamoto Days has become a hit thanks to its great mix of action, comedy, and familial bonds. In the manga-turned-anime, an elite hitman named Taro Sakamoto now lives out his retirement running a convenience store with his wife and daughter.

Unfortunately, Taro’s past finds him and soon various hitmen arrive to kill him and claim a bounty that’s on his head. Blending action with humor, the show sees the older (and plumper) Taro protect his family, all while dealing with the more mundane aspects of being a father.

Check out our guide below to discover the best movies and shows like Sakamoto Days you can stream online right now.

    John Wick

Fans might be surprised to learn that the biggest inspiration for Sakamoto Days wasn’t other anime or manga, but actually the John Wick film series. When speaking to MANGA Plus magazine, the creators of Sakamoto Days said, “Suzuki has a fondness for movies, and I believe it’s influenced by foreign hitman films like John Wick.” They said they thought Wick was cool and liked that the character was “collected, strong, and hard worker.”

    The Equalizer

In the MANGA Plus interview, another massive inspiration the creators named was The Equalizer. Fans can see the similarities as well – In the film, Denzel Washington plays an ex-marine who now spends his life working at a home improvement store. But after befriending a sex worker, he gets sucked into the criminal underworld and works to save an innocent girl.

    The Fable

For an anime with a similar plot, check out The Fable. In the series, an infamous hitman is sent on a mysterious mission where he’s forced to not kill anyone for a whole year and live life as a pedestrian. Even worse, he has to do this while living amongst a trigger-happy Yakuza clan.

    Great Teacher Onizuka

Just as Sakamoto Days sees a hitman become a convenience store owner, Great Teacher Onizuka sees a similar shift with its main character. In the manga and anime, a horny sleazeball named Eikichi grows up to become a teacher, and instead of trying to get in young girls’ pants, he now wants to help them learn valuable life lessons.

    Spy x Family

If you loved the way a trained hitman has to raise a family in Sakamoto Days, then check out Spy x Family. In the series, an elite spy from Westalis infiltrates the neighboring nation of Ostania by creating a fake family – taking on the fake name of Lord Folger, adopting a daughter, and marrying an unsuspecting woman. But he has no idea how difficult it will be to balance a family and his career.

    Kill Bill

Fans of Sakamoto Days will probably also recognize a similarity to Kill Bill. In the series, Taro has to face various hitmen who come to claim his bounty. Similarly, Uma Thurman must battle a team of assassins from her past in order to move on with her life. Anyone who loves the action side of Sakamoto Days will definitely enjoy both Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

    Hit Man

Based on the wild true story exposed in Texas Monthly magazine, Hit Man sees Glen Powell take on the role of Gary Johnson, an undercover agent who works to expose real-life hitmen. The film is loaded with humor and action, just like Sakamoto Days. Plus, its hitman-centered plot makes it even more similar to Sakamoto.

    Buddy Daddies

Speaking of assassins in weird family dynamics, Buddy Daddies follows two assassins who end up adopting a young girl after killing her father. The series definitely has some oddball and dark humor, but it vibes well for fans of Sakamoto Days.

Check Out These Shows That Severance Fans Will Love

This guide will show you the best series like Severance and let you know where they’re all streaming online right now.

Viewers are obsessed with the hit Apple TV+ series Severance. Thanks to its mind-bending premise, evocative characters, and deep, unanswered questions, the show is a bingeable masterpiece. Its first season alone scored 14 Emmy nominations and left fans wanting more.

If you want to watch more shows like Severance, check out our guide below to discover some of the best and find out where they’re streaming right now.

    Lost

Some have been calling Severance “Lost meets The Office” and the similarities are pretty striking. Both Severance and Lost center around a group of people in a secluded space who (for very different reasons) don’t know why they’re there. Along the way, questions about reality, their past, and the future emerge. Sure, one takes place in an office and the other on an island, but the similarities are undeniable.

    Black Mirror

Another common way for people to describe Severance is “one giant episode of Black Mirror”. Again, this is a pretty spot-on comment. If you love the deep and unsettling questions that Severance asks about technology and what humans will do to others (and themselves), then you absolutely need to watch Black Mirror.

    Homecoming

Just as the characters are “severed” in Severance, the Prime series Homecoming creates a similar scenario. The show centers on an experimental facility for veterans that is producing some incredibly promising results…but how are they getting them, what exactly is the Homecoming facility, and what purpose does it serve?

    Wayward Pines

While the question hasn’t been answered yet, Severance is making it pretty clear that Lumon Industries isn’t what its employees think. There’s a very similar vibe in the series Wayward Pines, which centers on a supposedly idyllic small town. But something about the town is…off, and once questions start being asked, the illusion crumbles.

    Mad Men

Part of the brilliance of Severance is that, on top of being a great psychological thriller, it’s also a massive critique of American office culture and the way we’re supposed to act like robotic minions while on the clock. Another series that brilliantly skewers American office culture is Mad Men. The series is a pointed critique of American office life in the 60s and the rampant sexism and abuse that took place during that era.

    Silo

Another Apple TV+ series that Severance fans will love is Silo. Both shows take place in a strange and isolated environment, both ask questions about whether those in charge are corrupt, and both have characters who question if their reality is actually real.

    Upload

Kind of like being “severed”, the series Upload allows people to be “uploaded” to a digital world where their consciousness can live forever. Upload also leans way heavier into the silly, similar to The Good Place. It’s a great show for anyone who likes the concepts behind Severance but needs a break from the drama.

Where to Watch Every Movie and TV Show that Features Harley Quinn

This guide will show you where to watch every movie and TV show that features the infamous (but oddly likable) villain Harley Quinn.

While Harley Quinn has always had a prominent supporting role within the Batman franchise, her popularity has skyrocketed in the last decade – thanks in large part to Margot Robbie portraying the character in the DC Extended Universe.

Since then, Quinn has received her own hit animated series on Max, Lady Gaga took over the role for the gritty Joker sequel, and Quinn has since appeared in dozens of animated shows and movies. Read on to find out where you can watch every movie and show that features Harley Quinn.

    Live Action TV Series

Aside from a brief cameo in one episode of Gotham, Harley Quinn has only appeared in one live-action TV series – a 2002 WB show called Birds of Prey.

    Animated TV Series

Harley Quinn has been in numerous animated series. Most notable is her titular show on Max that’s been airing since 2019. In the series, Quinn is voiced by Kaley Cuoco and the show has been huge within the fandom, spawning its own comic series and a spin-off show called Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!

    Live-Action Films

While many have said that Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Quinn was the highlight of Joker: Folie a Deux, it’s Margot Robbie’s bubbly yet manic portrayal of the character in the DC Extended Universe that truly turned Harley Quinn from a supporting character to a fan-favorite.

    Animated Films

Harley Quinn has been in lots of animated movies, most notably 2021’s hit Injustice and 2017’s Batman vs. Harley Quinn, where the character was voiced by Melissa Rauch – the second Big Bang Theory actor to play the role.

  •
The Best Zoe Saldaña Movies and Shows

The Best Zoe Saldaña Movies and Shows

This guide will show you the best Zoe Saldaña movies and shows, and let you know where they’re all streaming online right now.

For over 20 years, Zoe Saldaña has been making waves in Hollywood. In fact, she holds the lofty record of being the first (and so far only) actor to star in four movies that have grossed more than $2 billion at the box office. From action hits to dance dramas, and even a campy classic with Britney Spears, Saldaña has had quite the career. Check out our guide below to discover some of her best roles in film and television, and find out where they’re streaming right now.

    Guardians of the Galaxy

Saldaña has starred in not one, but three iconic franchises. One is Guardians of the Galaxy, where she plays Gamora, the trained assassin and somewhat adopted daughter/captive of Thanos. She reprised the role in all three movies, numerous Avengers films, and for various rides at Disney parks.

    Avatar

Another massive franchise for Saldaña is Avatar, where she plays Neytiri, the Na’vi daughter of her clan’s leader. She eventually falls in love with the human Jake Sully and the two begin a life together. Saldaña will continue reprising the role throughout the rest of the Avatar franchise.

    Star Trek

In 2009, Saldaña took on the iconic role of Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot film series. So far she’s reprised the role for two sequels, and while rumors of a fourth film have been swirling since 2016, in 2024 Paramount finally announced that it had officially greenlit Star Trek 4.

    Lioness

Since 2023, Saldaña has starred in the Paramount+ series Lioness (sometimes called Lioness: Special Ops). In the show, she stars as a secret CIA operative who controls a female spy team. Lioness has quite a few famous faces, including Nicole Kidman who stars as her boss, and Morgan Freeman who joined the show in its second season.

    Crossroads

While it’s certainly not a good film in the traditional sense, Crossroads is downright iconic. The 2002 film starred Britney Spears and her two friends (one played by Saldaña) and focuses on their drama and joys and all the corny crap that made 2000s movies so sappy. But the cheesy story and bad acting have aged very well, turning movies like Crossroads into hilarious classics that are loads of fun to watch with a group of friends and a bottle of wine.

    Center Stage

Another one of Saldaña’s iconic early roles is in the 2000 film Center Stage. The movie centers around the students of an elite ballet academy in Manhattan (based on the real-life School of American Ballet in Lincoln Center). Since its release the movie has been absolutely iconic for people in the dance and ballet community and is watched religiously by dance kids everywhere.

    Emilia Pérez

Saldaña has been earning ample praise for the action musical Emilia Pérez, about a cartel boss who retires from the business and then has gender-affirming surgery. The film’s bombastic style and great music have turned it into a massive hit, earning it numerous awards, including a Golden Globe win for Saldaña.

    From Scratch

Based on the 2019 memoir of the same name, Saldaña starred in the miniseries From Scratch, about an American girl who goes to Italy and falls in love with a chef. But when they return to America, her new boyfriend struggles to make a living. Luckily, they make it through and create a life together.
