Known for his cult classic film “Leon: The Professional” (1994), writer, producer, and director Luc Besson is one of the best-known filmmakers working in Hollywood. Many of his movies have taken on cult status, such as the sci-fi action movie “The Fifth Element” (1997) starring Milla Jovovich and Bruce Willis. He worked again with Jovovich for “The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc” (1999), an epic historical drama. Throughout the 2000s, Besson directed a trilogy of animated children’s movies: “Arthur and the Minimoys” (2006), “Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard” (2009), and “Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds” (2010). He returned to mainstream Hollywood attention with his Scarlett Johansson-led “Lucy” (2014) and the space opera “Valerian and City of a Thousand Planets” (2017) starring pop icon Rihanna, among others. He is the writer and director of “Dogman” (2023), starring Caleb Landry Jones, who also appeared in Besson’s “Dracula: A Love Tale” (2025) alongside Christoph Waltz and Zoe Bleu.
