What to know

James Gunn returns to direct third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a superhero sci-fi adventure film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney. It is the 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and follows on from the events of Thor: Love and Thunder where the Guardians of the Galaxy make an appearance.

James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) returns to direct the third volume, and write the script. Although he was briefly booted off the project, the overwhelming support from the film’s cast saw him be reinstated onto the project. British cinematographer Henry Braham (The Suicide Squad) returns to the crew, bringing the trademark visual style to the series.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn and Sylvester Stallone all reprise their roles from the previous films. Will Poulter (Dopesick) joins the cast as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji (The Underground Railroad) as the High Evolutionary - a charming yet evil villain.
