After forming an intense brotherly bond as teenagers, the timid Niall and the rageful Ruben enter a decades-long codependent relationship that pushes both of them to the edge. As seeming opposites, Ruben’s volatility contrasts and balances out Niall’s gentleness and self-doubt. As the two grow through the 1980s to the present, their paths seem increasingly necessary to break, and yet fundamentally necessary for their survival.
